National Elections Supervisor appointed

From: http://pacifica.org/news/030908_newElectionCoord.html

BERKELEY (Sept. 8) -- Pacifica Radio today announced the appointment of veteran Voting rights activist Terry Bouricius as the part-time National Elections Supervisor for the network's upcoming Local Station Board elections.

Bouricius replaces outgoing Elections Supervisor David Greene who is returning to his studies this fall.

Terry is presently a senior policy analyst for the Center for Voting and Democracy, a Washington-DC based advocacy group that seeks to expand and deepen voting rights and voter participation.

Terry knows the US electoral system inside and out. He was elected five times to the Burlington City Council in Vermont and served one term as President. In 1990, he was elected as a Progressive to the Vermont House of Representatives, where he served until 2001. He decided not to seek re-election to the House of Representatives in order to work full time with the Center for Voting and Democracy promoting voter-friendly election reforms.

Terry has been a leader of numerous low-income neighborhood organizations, living-wage campaigns, and peace movements. He served as president of the board of directors of the Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity. He has also been involved in single-payer health care reform, campaign finance reform, anti-racist campaigns, Central America solidarity movements, and anti-corporate WTO efforts.

Terry will continue the work of developing uniform election policies and procedures for Pacifica as well as outreach and education materials. He will finalize the five local election coordinators for Pacifica's five station areas.

Terry can be reached at elections@pacifica.org or terryb@fairvote.org

The Pacifica National Elections Supervisor post is a part-time consultancy. The complete job description can be found at: Pacifica.org/news/electioncoordinator.html
