WPFW ELECTIONS SUPERVISOR REPLACEMENT
ANNOUNCEMENT
Terry Bouricius, the National Elections Supervisor for the Pacifica Foundation, announced today that Rashad Robinson has been appointed to take over as the Local Election Supervisor for the WPFW station board. Eric Swalwell, a law student, will continue to assist in the preparations for the elections. Rashad is currently the National Field Director at the Center for Voting and Democracy. He is a voting systems expert who has worked promoting minority voting rights, and is well versed in the details of then method of proportional representation being used in the WPFW elections. Rashad's work at the Center for Voting and Democracy entails developing training materials, organizing field activities and communications activities, and building and supporting the Centers coalition work. He frequently gives presentations, workshops and sits on panels at civil rights, pro-democracy and student/youth conferences. An experienced organizer and advocate, Rashad has mobilized people to engage and reform their educational and political institutions. Prior to joining the Center for Voting and Democracy, he worked with the Education Trust organizing high school and college students around issues of educational equity. Since joining the Center, he has testified in front of Charter Review commissions, appeared on radio programs, served as the lead organizer of the National Claim Democracy Conference as well as several regional "Train the Trainer" workshops and events. He has been a frequent media source for electoral reform, civil rights and youth issues, and has been quoted in over 45 media outlets nationwide, including The New York Times, The Christian Science Monitor, Miami Herald, and The Atlanta Journal Constitution.
