Presented at the iPNB meeting in Houston November 22-24, 2002 A Proposal for Local Diversity Options within a Uniform National Electoral Mechanism The iPNB by straw poll has approved the following: (1) Listener-Sponsor Membership (2) The KPFA nomination procedures (3) A diversity requirement of at least 50% people of color, at least 50% women. (4) A uniform national election model (5-4 vote). We Propose: The KPFA diversity electoral mechanism shall be applied at all Pacifica stations as follows: Local boards shall apply the basic KPFA diversity requirement of at least 50% people of color , at least 50% women; -- Local boards have the option, within the basic diversity requirement, to set aside seats for five categories of people of color, generally consistent with the census demographics in the station area. -- Local boards shall also have the option of adding two constituency categories to the basic diversity requirement: Disabled Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender.As an example of what a station board might choose, The following allocation of seats could be chosen:
