NEW SCHEDULE OF IPNB MEETINGS Last week notice went out with the schedule for the next two meetings of the Interim Pacifica National Board. As you will recall, one of those meetings was going to take place the weekend right before the holidays in December. After that memo went out we heard from several staff and LAB chairs, as well as some of the board members. A number of people were concerned about the timing of that meeting and asked if it might be changed. Based on all of the feedback and comments, here is our new schedule. We apologize for any inconvenvience or confusion the change of dates causes anyone. Friday, Nov. 22 (6 to 9:30 pm), Saturday, Nov. 23 (9 am to 6 pm) and Sunday, Nov. 24 (9 am to 3 pm) - special IPNB meeting to discuss new draft of bylaws - Houston, TX Friday, Dec. 6 (6 to 9:30 pm), Saturday, Dec. 7 (9 am to 6 pm) and Sunday, Dec. 8 (9 am to 3 pm) - regular IPNB meeting with a full agenda, including adoption of new bylaws - Washington, DC The new draft of bylaws are still scheduled to be completed and circulated throughout Pacifica by November 4th. Meetings of the LABs in all five cities to discuss draft bylaws will need to be scheduled between Nov. 4th and Nov. 22nd ... so please make those plans now. When the IPNB meets in Houston on the 11/22-24 weekend we will discuss, review, and revise the draft bylaws - it will be critical that the LABs will have already met. The details on the Nov. 22-24 meeting in Houston have not all been worked out yet...as soon as they are we will get that to you. Please note: because we must complete a great deal of work on the bylaws this meeting will be conducted differently than previous meetings. Time will be set aside on Friday evening to hear comments from Pacifica activists about their perspectives and concerns related to the bylaws. The rest of the meeting will be discussion amongst the board members. Of course, the public is invited to attend but we will have to conduct a disciplined discussion in order to get through the work. The adoption of new bylaws will take place at the IPNB meeting in Washington, DC on the weekend of Dec. 6, 7 & 8th. This meeting will have a full agenda (more details to come later) and it will be important for all of the station managers and the LAB chairs to be at the meeting. Thanks for everyone's patience.
