Hi,Rick. I just got back from LA, and haven't
checked my email,. So if you haven't already posted this to other lists, where I have tried to raise the issue, I
would like your permission to do so. Keeping this issue a secret is shameful. It may have been the best course
but certainly deserved to be aired, especially because it is something so many felt so strongly about. This was
listener money, and listeners should have had a chance to debate this matter. As a precedent for the future of
democratic governance at Pacifica, it sucks.

Stephen,
I guess I should apologize for thinking you paranoid or something. Tonight at the KPFT LAB meeting, after
Duane Bradley gave the manager's report, LAB chair Deb Shafto gave her report, which consisted of saying
yes Garland Ganter is getting severance pay from Pacifica, the lawyers said we had to do this, Garland had
made sure every 'i' had been dotted, & 't' crossed, it would have cost more money to fight him than to pay him
off. (Michael Pimental told me Garland got 9 months severance. $62K X 9/12 or .75 = $46,500.) I talked to
Duane afterwards, & he told me Dan Coughlin ordered him not to talk about it. So there you have it.
The other interesting thing that happened at the meeting is that the LAB voted to have George Barnstone,
Duane Bradley, & Otis Hardy McKay investigate the Buzzanco Affair. (See Kpft Discussion Board (Prof.
Berzerko berates guest hosts on air — .-D, Wed Apr 17 16:50) Has Buzzanco given his enemies enough rope
to hang him? Stay tuned. --Rick Potthoff
