Subject: What David is Saying

OY VEH!!!!

David says WBAI fiscal mismanagement will not change unless ALL the Fired and the Banned come back.

He said he started the ticket service 20 years ago with a donation from a listener ($25K) with the condition that the service be self supporting, professional and with it's own bank account. The service was bringing in upwards of $400K to $500K a year. The money was deposited and expenses paid with the net proceeds going directly to the WBAI fund. When Pacifica took over 2 or 3 years ago, the proceeds went directly to Pacifica and over time, the administrative bills went unpaid. This is the reason why the ticket service, which he stated is probably one of the most effective fund raiser in non-profit history, was destroyed by the mismanagement of Pacifica and Utrice leid.

He also said that Leid was "resigned" with 4 months pay, while people like Bernard White, who had 20 years were summarily dismissed, with his personal belongings sequestered for up to eight months.

David said that he may not be here next Saturday. Apparently, he is daring the bastards to fire him for violating the gag rule. He's compared Pacifica to Ashcroft.

He is now giving the address of the party/fund raiser to a listener (101 Avenue of the Americas corner of Grand). [Note that there are vigils all day in front of the station]. The reception is at 5pm and the shows/party at 7pm.

We are all standing with David Rothenberg in the heroic battle to take back WBAI from the gang of thieves. Onward David! Onward the struggle for progressive alternative radio! Down with Tyranny! Fred

Last week in NYC:

Friday, December 14, 2001 7:58 PM

Bob Fass was told this morning that he was "suspended" from his overnight talk show on WBAI. Fass has been on WBAI since 1962 and is known for his innovative use of the medium of radio; he is considered to be the inventor of freeform radio and has made the history books for his interactive broadcasts in support of the anti- Viet Nam war movement..

In what can only be described as a blatant double standard, Fass' removal by WBAI manager Robert Daughtry was alleged to be due to Fass comments about the WBAI and Pacifica crisis, which violated the "gag rule.".

Meanwhile, supporters of Utrice Leid spent 6 hours on the air yesterday, 12/13 making derogatory remarks about, and threats against, a number of former staff by name, as well as the Pacifica reform movement generally.

No gag rule for those who bash management's opponents apparently.

You can hear the bashfest, if you missed it, on line at

More details on the attack on Fass when they become available.
