In negotiations on Friday AFTRA persuaded Management to hold off layoffs for now.

We have until the end of this year to turn the deficit around or there will most probably be layoffs. Among other efforts, a Development Committee, formed at the last USOC Meeting, is being coordinated by Ayo Harrington (ayoharr@a... ), Kathy Davis is coordinating a Marathon Committee and Peter Bochan is working on some special on-air fundraising ideas.

I talked with Jose who agreed to this joint meeting which was recommended by our last USOC Meeting.

ALL OF OUR PARTICIPATION AND IDEAS ARE NECESSARY AT THIS TIME OF CRISIS. PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ATTEND.

It was also agreed at the last meeting to take up our postponed agenda from the last meeting at this time:

Agenda:

1.Election for Stewards Council .So far 7 members including (most recently) Barbara Nimri Aziz ,Rosa Clemente,Louis Reyes Rivera, Ken Nash, Sandy Boyer, Jeannie Hopper & Marquez Osson have been nominated to fill 5 Steward Positions. Linda Zises has withdrawn her nomination. The term of office will be one year. Other details concerning the mechanics of the election including dates of the election, method of voting, a candidates night, a committee to run the election, etc. will be decided at this Meeting.

2. ARC Selection Process and the new Arts ARC: Management selected candidates from 2 prior ARCS without interviewing all the candidates recommended by these ARCS. It was voted at the last USOC Meeting that we delay election to the new Arts ARC until we clear up this situation. Don subsequently agreed to interview candidates recommended by future ARCs . We were scheduled to discuss setting up a new Arts ARC.

3. WBAI Budget Committee

Don has created a Budget Committee and has invited two representatives from USOC. Should we hold an election for USOC representation on this Committee?
