Monday night's LAB Meeting
Tue Nov 27 01:31:15 2001

Miguel Maldonado was unanimously elected as the Interim Pacifica National Board member from the WBAI listening area.

In order to do this, Miguel resigned as Chair of the LAB and Vice-Chair, Marian Borenstein (a member of the Exploratory Elections and By-Laws Revision committee) is the new Chair of the WBAI LAB.

I hope somebody noted the resolutions that were passed tonight...The votes were alost all unanimous. Since the CF had their meeting before the LAB's meeting, I believe most people stayed and participated in the discussion.

I thought it was a very productive, and for the most part, free of any serious dissension.

I have to get up at 5 am to catch a plane tomorrow morning, so I'll leave the reporting on the details to those who were there.

REMINDER: The next LAB meeting was called for Tuesday, January 8, 2002, AT THE STATION...120 Wall Street. Let's see if we can make it happen!

The next meeting of the LAB Exploratory Committee will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2001...hopefully at Local 1707, 75 Varick St, at 6:30. Ray Laforest's down in the Dominican Republic or Haiti, so I couldn't check the availability with him.

I'll try to let everyone know the definite location as soon as I get back on Saturday.

Subject: BAI LAB co-chair Maldonado resigns, chosen iPNB NY rep

At Monday's BAI LAB emergency meeting at Charas center Miguel Maldonado was chosen as NY Area rep to the hoped-for Interim Pacifica National Board. Mimi Rosenberg made the suggestion that Maldonado resign his position as co-chair of the LAB and run for the position. Marian Borenstein, the other co-chair, assumed the role of LAB chair. LAB members then took a secret ballot to make their choice known. The other noteworthy candidate was Ray LaForest, who was out of country and din not attend.

At the beginning of the meeting Maldonado said he would adhere to the choice of the LAB in the task of choosing the rep to the iPNB.
