Bylaws/governance programming at KPFK & KPFA:

At the June 21-23 board meeting, the interim Pacifica National Board mandated that each Pacifica signal area station broadcast a weekly 2 hour program covering the currrent bylaws/governance process until the new bylaws are in place.

This first KPFK program was produced on July 14th by an elected production team of the KPFK Bylaws Subcommittee, with the excellent cooperation of Eva Georgia, KPFK station manager.

Bylaws/governance programming is scheduled on KPFA as follows:

Rotating through the 7 pm 1-hour slot on weeknights for 5 weeks (beginning Monday, July 8th, then Tuesday, July 16th, then Wednesday, July 24th ... and so on) followed 5 weeks rotation through the 8 pm 1-hour weeknights. In addition, the first 3 Fridays of the month on Living Room from noon to 1 pm, and on the 4th Sunday for one hour on Sunday Salon.

It is hoped that these programs will set a context for the bylaws changes, educate listeners on the reasons and need for such changes, and keep them informed of the process as it proceeds.

Currently, rough draft bylaws are being prepared for public review and comment. They are expected to be ready in 10 days to 2 weeks, and will be posted to www.pacifica.org [ as well as here at wbai.net ]. There will also be a bulletin board for public comment on the bylaws drafts available at www.pacifica.org
